Loss of a great friend...

Saturday, Feb 16, AtsuiCon, the Sam Houston Anime Society (SHAS), the SH Cosplay Club and Lolita Kittens, as well as many others, lost a great friend and supporter of the anime community.
Jerry Tanksley, President of the Sam Houston Anime Society, as well as founding member and treasurer of the SH Cosplay and Lolita Kittens, passed away this following weekend. To those of us who knew him, Jerry was energetic and lively, always had a kind word or funny comment, and unabashedly himself. For convention goers who had not been formally introduced, Jerry was a regular on the Cosplay scene, unafraid to display his love of acting. Despite battling diabetes almost his entire life, he never let it slow him down. His death has come as a shock to those close to him.

Jerry: you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Funeral Services for Jerry D. Tanksley, Jr. will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at

///Headline News///
Welcome to AtsuiCon.com!
Atsui  [aht `su EE] - 1. The Japanese word for 'hot'.  2. The perfect way to describe Houston, Texas in the summer. Hello and welcome to the newest anime convention to hit Houston, Texas. This project has been over twenty years in the making. And trust us, it will be worth the wait. AtsuiCon is brought to you by the one and only DJ Laen; the creator of the great Sailor Moon Dance Remix of 1997. AtsuiCon will be different than other conventions that you may be used to. First of all, you can expect lower prices everywhere you look. Starting from the cost of registration to the comic market tables. We believe that anime conventions doesn't have to be expensive. As a non-profit organization, we will take any and all profit and put it back into the convention for the next year. This convention belongs to Houston. It's up to all of us, staff and guests, to make this convention better than any other in Texas... or the US. Even if the prices are low, you will still get a quality convention at a beautiful spacious hotel. We want to have a convention Houston can be proud of.

Please support us by resgistering in our forums and letting us know how we can better improve for our second year. Thank You.
